We are coming to the end of our golfing season and I am pleased that there is good news to report. The below is to keep everyone up to date on club matters.
Membership and Sponsorship
Our Membership has kept pace with last year’s numbers. We have had a good response to all of our Opens which has allowed us to pass on part of the profit to the prize winners which hopefully will entice them to come back in 2022. As you can see the Sponsorship Tee Boards are nearly complete. Holes 8 and 16 are still reserved. Hole 11 is still available for Sponsorship so if you know of any businesses who would like to sponsor a hole, let someone on the Committee know so we can contact to discuss the opportunity.
Presentation Night and Kitchen Refurbishment
All the trophies are now engraved for 2020 and 2021. We hope to have our Presentation Night on Friday November 26th, further details will follow nearer the time in case there is any change to the date. The delay is due to the closure of the Club House on 1st November to allow the refurbishment of the kitchen, flooring in the cellar and fitting of a glass washer plus sink unit and flooring in the bar. We have already replaced all the under counter glass fronted fridges. We have only been able to carry out the necessary work to bring the kitchen up to Environmental Standards due to the hard work of a member of the Committee who sourced considerable grants for us during lockdown. Renovations are well underway and the hope is we will still be looking to re-open on Monday 15th.
The Winter League at Scoonie will be starting from Saturday 13th November. Please add your name to the sheet on the Notice Board and enter your scores after each round and place your card in the box.Players can play at any time on the Saturday or Sunday’s listed on the sheet, just book yourself a teetime through the BRS App or call the Proshop. Please use your WHS Index to work out your COURSE handicap at end of season and use the Silver Tee Handicap as the winter tees have been added now. There will be 3 sections: 0-9, 11-18 and 19-54.The SSS will be 64, members will adjust their own handicaps, with a reduction of one shot for every stroke under the SSS, up to a maximum of 3 shots.
The best 7 scores will be taken for each player to decide the winners of each section.
A birdie competition will also be run in conjunction with the above. All birdies scored will count for this. An eagle counts as 2 birdies.
Play will be from silver/yellow tees ONLY. Groups of 4 players are permitted.
NO GIMMIES, all putts must be holed out.Pro-Shop Money
Money has now been transferred back into the club. We will shorty begin moving the money from your pro-shop account back to your general account. Once the money has been moved you will have 3 choices:
1. Leave in general account for use over the coming season.
2. Leave in general account and when membership fees for the coming season are due, you can ask us to transfer some of that money to your membership account to reduce what you will be due for your 2022 membership.
3. Request a bank transfer of the amount to yourself. These will be dealt with on a first come, first served basis and as and when time allows. Requests must be made to firstname.lastname@example.org from your registered club address and we will need your bank account details (name on account, sort code and account number) in order to process.
Any queries with this, please let us know.
Fife Golf Trust
Fife Golf Trust have made good on their promise to bring in a Specialist Company to check on the drainage problems. There will be work done over the winter to improve the situation with new pipework and open ditches being worked on to improve drainage for next season. Winter greens have been prepared and will be used when required but please do not play off the winter greens if your ball finishes up on them.
Thank you all for your continued support of our Golf Club and we look forward to seeing you at the awards ceremony next week.
