Thank you for taking the time to visit Scoonie Golf Club. On behalf of the Committee we would like to welcome you to the enjoy a round of golf on our friendly, interesting and varied course consisting of 18 holes. Having many visitors who come far and wide to play at our course there is a great range of players on the course during the course of the year.
When you have completed your round we hope you will partake of our bar and restaurant facilities provide by Hazel and her staff. We hope it will not be too long before you can enjoy a drink with your meal indoors. We welcome all visitors, golfing and non-golfing and we hope you all enjoy your visit.
The first open competition of 2021 for the club will be held on Sunday 9th of May. Entries are done through the Scottish Golf App just like any other club competition. If you do not have access to the App you can also enter through the Scottish Golf Website, using the following link. Unfortunately the link on our website for the open is not working which is being investigated.
With the current limitations you can only enter in yourself, unless you are a Scoonie Golf Club member. If you want to play with non-club members we suggest you book yourself in first to secure your tee time and then get them to book in themselves and then add them to your teetime. If they are unable to book themselves in then email the club with their full name, a valid email address and a CDH number so we can get them booked in. Note, all players are required to pay when booking, there will be no cash taken on the day of play like we have done in the past.
If there are any queries, please email the club or message through our Facebook page and we will get back to you as soon as possible.
The draw is up for the J Gilbert Cup. Will last years winner Kenny Houston be able to retain his name on the Cup or will we see a new winner. Good luck to all that are playing, should be a great day with a nice sunny day forecast.
Well the new season has started with our Captain v Vice-Captain being played last weekend and it was a great turnout. The Captain had a convincing win of 17 to 10. Well done to all that played and we hope you enjoyed it.
This weekend sees the start of the medals with the Champion of Champions. The draw is up and it is another great turnout with a near capacity booking for our teetimes. We will look to get some more teetimes moving forward to hopefully get more players in over the coming weeks. The Champion of Champions is a strokeplay medal open to all however the trophy is only open to the main club winners from last year. There will still be a sweep and two’s though open to all that are playing.
We are all continuing to get to grips with the new WHS system, some like it some don’t but it is here to stay and should provide some interesting changes to members handicaps over the coming season. Below is a table going over the differences in your playing handicap depending on the type of competition being played.
The fixture list is always completed which is below.
As per the AGM held in March there are some changes with the officials at the club.
Captain – Tom Goodsir Vice-Captain – Phil Renwick Match Secretary – Steve Cowan Treasurer – Gareth Allenby
Steve has been busy sorting everything out for the medals, competitions and opens so there has been a few emails from him detailing all of the information. If you are not receiving the emails please get in touch so we can check it out.
There will be regular updates coming through this season and the website will be kept more up to date so keep checking in and we look forward to seeing you out on the course.

Golf pros/ Starters are currently updating booking sheets to reflect the change.
Golf Pros / Golf Clubs will make necessary changes to coaching arrangements given the changes re group sizes etc.
All other COVID rules/ restrictions remain in place.
